What does the election of America's first African American president mean to you?

This election means an insurmountable measure of joy and pride for me....As  black man minority in this country, I've witnesses and experienced 1st hand the cruelties and bigotry that still linger among these 50 states...I feel that the election of Barack Obama to the position of Commander and Chief will aid in breaking stereotypes and diminish prejudices that exist against the black community, in turn reducing the malevolence against other minorities such as Hispanics, Asians, LGBTs, etc...

I feel that his experiences as a minority will provide insight into the needs and sentiments of the lower and middle class, the working class, in this country...We are the people that the wealthy depend upon to conduct unwanted yet necessary tasks and occupations...The back bone, the infrastructure, the framework and glue that keeps it all together...Obama knows what it is to not live so well-off and as such, speaks, thinks, and decides according to common sense and humanity rather than bureaucracy, protocol, and policy...

This is the first step in what I believe will be a reawakening of the minority masses...the 60s had Malcolm and Martin, currently we had only speakers that weren't in the limelight as much, such as Cornell West, but with a president who is of minority race, surely attention shall be brought to the rest of us that are talented in the arts, sciences, courts, etc...This is a new age for blacks, browns, yellows, reds...

    This is the Plebeian Renaissance
